The School of Law is pleased to note that it has been ranked 2nd in Scotland in the results from the REF 2014. The School adopted a policy of reflecting its broad research culture and engagement in its REF submission, and returned nearly 80% of eligible staff. We note that some Law Schools with high national rankings have taken a narrower approach. We are very proud of the recognition given to the impact of our work, which has affected public policy and legislation nationally and internationally. 100% of our impact case studies were recognised as being of 3* or 4* quality (4* is the highest score obtainable - the scale running from 4* down to 'unclassified'). We are also proud that 65% of our published outputs have been ranked at 3* and 4*. We remain committed in the School of Law to developing research, to engaging with the public and with public bodies, and to teaching to the very highest standard in an environment where research feeds directly into teaching, providing our students with the highest possible standards of intellectual engagement and knowledge.
