Prof Mark Godfrey appointed Literary Director of the Stair Society

Professor Mark Godfrey was appointed Literary Director of the Stair Society at its AGM on 19 November 2016, in succession to Professor Hector MacQueen of the University of Edinburgh. The Stair Society was founded in 1934 and is the leading learned society dedicated to advancing knowledge of the history of Scots Law. Mark is Professor of Legal History at Glasgow University, and follows in the footsteps of several previous Literary Directors of the Society based at Glasgow, including most recently the late Professor William M. Gordon. Glasgow colleague Dr Stephen Bogle was also elected a member of Council, and Professor Ernest Metzger stepped down as Chairman of Council; he is now a coopted member of Council with a remit on publicity.
